Maggie Anderson and her family made history when they lived out a public pledge to support only African-American owned businesses for one year. Every major news outlet including, CNN, MSNBC, FOX, CBS, and NPR  covered her journey. The family's stand inspired millions and sparked a movement of self-help economics, strategic entrepreneurship and conscious consumerism. They called it "The Empowerment Experiment," an ongoing effort to empower a community whose internal and external struggles led the family to personal challenges, landmark university studies and grabbed the attention of corporate America.  Maggie's call urging consumers to support quality black businesses is now a growing  national movement that benefits all communities. Join Maggie Anderson as she brings this powerful and uplifting message to the Bay Area. 

Maggie is CEO and CoFounder of The Empowerment Experiment Foundation. She holds a BA from Emory University and a JD and MBA from the University of Chicago. Maggie  lives in Oak Park, Illinois with her husband, John and their two daughters.
